Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov met with South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol in Seoul and briefed on cooperation between Russia and North Korea. Their discussions also covered responding to new security threats. President Yoon expressed South Korea’s willingness to work with Ukraine and the United States to respond to threats posed by rapprochement between Russia and North Korea. Ukraine and North Korea also agreed to continue exchanging information about the stationing of North Korean troops in Russia and passing that information from Moscow to Pyongyang.
During the summit, the Ukrainian delegation also met with the heads of government of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Norway, Poland and Sweden. They issued a joint statement on increasing military support to Ukraine. The prime ministers of these countries declared their willingness to support Ukraine and invest in its defense industry. They also stressed that support will not diminish.
The United States reported to the UN that North Korea was preparing to supply Russia with additional ballistic missiles, in addition to those already supplied. The UN claims that Pyongyang has illegally supplied ballistic missiles and ammunition to Russia.
Ukraine received $4.8 billion from the World Bank under Project Peace. This project became the largest in the bank’s history. In total, nearly $50 billion has been raised under World Bank mechanisms since the start of the war.
The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting due to recent Russian attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. The meeting will be held in accordance with Ukraine’s request.
