A growing number of companies have begun equipping their workers with exoskeleton robots to meet the demand for transportation services during the peak summer season. The technology is used by companies in Beijing, Shanghai and other cities, according to SCMP.
Loaders Hong Yangming and Nian Jihun showed how they work in exoskeletons, two boxes at a time and climbing stairs.
According to Hong Yangming, two-thirds of the orders come from tenants living in buildings without elevators, and before the advent of exoskeleton robots, work was very stressful, especially climbing stairs.
The robots record and analyze the data coming from the host and make decisions to create force in the right place at the right time. This helps prevent overexertion of the lower back and other muscles.
According to Nian Jihoon, the robotic suit takes the strain off his knees, while Hong Yangming said that after using the suit, he felt less stressed than before and his work efficiency improved.
Where previously they could only complete two moving orders per day, now they can complete up to four.
The story has generated interest on social media in China.

In China, exoskeleton technology is expanding to various industries. In November 2021, a robotics, rehabilitation medicine and AI company used exoskeleton technology to help paralyzed people walk again.
Chinese logistics companies such as SF Express and YT Express have implemented exoskeletons in their warehouses, from exoskeletons for lumbar support when lifting weights to “chairs” for workers.
