New York Police Department officers (NYPD) found a loaded firearm on a subject who had initially been arrested this week for alleged abuse in the Bronxthe authorities indicated.
Identified as Xavier Williams31 years old, fHe was arrested on Wednesday of this week at the Brook Avenue “6” station on East 138th Street in Mott Haven, police sources reported,
The man was seen by an agent with good eyesight entering the subway system around 2:20 in the afternoon through an emergency door to avoid paying the faresources noted.
When one of the officers tried to stop Williams, he allegedly resisted arrest and tried to escapethey added.
After the police were able to handcuff the suspect, They were able to observe that he was carrying a gun loaded with six .38 bullets hidden in his waistband.according to New York Post.
Williams He has five previous arrests on his record.said sources, including four serious crimes. He had been on parole for a weapons possession arrest in 2022the officers said.
At this moment it is detained at Rikers Island on $10,000 bailaccording to court records.

“This is a great example of why it’s important for police to go after the so-called little things,” said Joseph Giacalone, a retired NYPD sergeant and adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
“We used to see this all the time in the 1990s, which made riding the subway much safer. And the City Council wants to make the application of the abuse rules more flexible!”
