The latest of the concerts available on the site is the opening concert of the 96th season of the LNSO with the participation of French conductor Jean-Claude Kazadesi, which was first experienced by the audience only two weeks ago.
As the director of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra Indra Lukina explains, such an alternative way of giving concerts was found last year, trying to enable a wider audience to watch the concerts remotely. Since then, the project has been purposefully developed: “[..]As we do not want to lose touch with our listeners and want to provide a positive experience for everyone, we created the “LNSO digital concert hall” already in the first month of the pandemic. We offer viewers videos of our best concerts, and the range of concerts is regularly updated. We have not forgotten about the youngest spectators either – concerts from the cycle “LeNeSOns” and the musical show “Zenīts” are meant for them. “
In the “LNSO Digital Concert Hall”, culture lovers can also enjoy live broadcasts, including the concert “LNSO, Poska and Tchaikovsky” taking place next week, on October 29, in the Grand Guild, which will be hosted by LNSO Chief Guest Conductor Kristīna Poska.
“As professional bands can continue to operate during an emergency, LNSO musicians will play scheduled concerts online without the presence of spectators, subject to epidemiological safety requirements. This concert was long ago chosen for broadcasting on Latvian Radio 3 – “Klasika” and Euroradio waves, broadcasting the concert in other European countries as well. We must also perform the concert programs of the Baltic Symphony Festival in both Estonia and Lithuania in cooperation with the national orchestras of neighboring countries, ”Indra Lukina explained the LNSO’s responsibility towards the audience.
The concert “LNSO, Poska and Tchaikovsky” will be enjoyed on October 29 at 7 pm in the “LNSO Digital Concert Hall” and Latvijas Radio 3. During the break between the parts of the concert, music reviewer Orests Silabriedis will present the compositions and significant, interesting musical nuances.
On November 4, a concert “LNSO, Wagner and Bruckner” will be broadcast with the participation of Lithuanian conductor Gintars Rinkēvičs and soloist Ieva Prudņikovaite, and on November 11 – a symphonic hit with Goran Gora dedicated to young people and symphony music enthusiasts. Sibelius’s Sixth and Dārziņš’s “Melancholic Waltz”.
The LNSO also continues the “LNSO podcast” in digital format. Orest Silabriedis, the editor-in-chief of the LNSO, and Andris Poga, the orchestra’s artistic advisor, invite guests who are not always connected to the world of music to talk about culture, philosophy and the perception of the world in general. Previous participants: Viesturs Kairišs, artists Krista Dzudzilo and Reinis Dzudzilo, psychotherapist Nils Sakss Konstantinovs, theologian Indulis Paičs, sommelier Aigars Nords and many others. You can listen to the podcast atSpotify” a LNSO website.
