The concert will feature Grieg’s popular Piano Concerto, where the soloist will be the bright pianist Agnese Egliņa and whose introductory beats are familiar to everyone, but before that you can hear Grieg Norwegian dances. Grieg is one of the most famous representatives of romanticism, especially his melodies for Henrik Ibsen’s play Per Gints.
The host of the concert, Goran Gora, as a singer, prepared a surprise for the audience. As usual, he will lead the concert and introduce the audience to unusual facts about the composer’s life and era, talk to the soloist Agnese Egliņš and take the audience closer to the key to music.
Concert cycle Symphonic hits with Goran Gora In the latest edition, viewers will be able to look at the pages of music that introduced the world to the unique values of Norwegian culture. Although the Norwegian composer Edward Grieg learned his skills in music in Germany, the main task of his life was to dress Norway’s unaccustomed nature, unusual mythological images and simple everyday life. Together with the romantic expression typical of the 19th century, it has come true in the unprecedented, colorful language of music and ingenious compositions that still live on the world stage today. He is the author of 170 solo songs, several symphonic compositions, and many piano miniatures, and has written music for more than 20 theater performances.
For the eighth year in a row, the LNSO continues a concert cycle dedicated to young people and beginners in classical music with added educational value – Symphonic hits with Goran Gora. In it, LNSO and narrator Goran Gora introduce listeners to classical music hits and their authors – world-famous composers. The compositions are complemented by a narration of the artists’ own biographies and visual surprises. This season, the creative team of the concert consists of writer Jānis Joņevs, artist Krišs Salmanis, director Roberts Rubīns and LNSO editor-in-chief Orest Silabriedis.
The soloist of the concert, pianist Agnese Egliņa has won the Grand Music Award in the 2020 category For outstanding performance all year roundas well as in the LMB 2010 category For outstanding work in the ensemble. By collaborating with musicians in various chamber ensembles, Egliņa has become one of the most sought-after pianists in Latvia. The LNSO has been working closely with Agnes for many years.
The concert on February 17 will be conducted by the talented conductor Kaspars Ādamsons, the chief conductor of the Song Festival, currently the conductor of the Latvian National Opera, previously the chief conductor of the LNOB. Since 2014, Kaspars has been conducting the joint symphony orchestra of the Riga Music School. The LNO has been the principal conductor’s assistant in productions Rienci. Triumph and defeat, Three Encounters a Manona Lesko; conducted Bird opera and opera Walled. Nominated for the Grand Music Award 2014 in the category The young artist of the year and received a public sympathy award.
In accordance with the restrictions set by the country, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra offers to attend events in the green security regime.
