After only one season on the side of Nîmes, the Norwegian pivot Henrik Jakobsen chose to leave the Gard to return to Denmark.
The president of theUSE Nîmes David Tebib announced it yesterday at a press conference, the Danish club GOG made it official during the day. The Norwegian international pivot Henrik Jakobsen leaves the Gard, with immediate effect, and one year before the end of the contract, to return to Denmark.
Arrived in France three years ago, in Toulouse, Jakobsen immediately established himself as a safe bet in the championship on the pivot position. At the same time, he was making an increasingly important place in the Norwegian national team, even obtaining the silver medal at the 2019 world championship.
Injured in the knee in the spring of 2019, he returned a few months later before joining Nîmes, where he had a very good last season. But when the call from GOG, where he played from 2015-2018, came, it didn’t take long for him to think. “A week ago, the plan was for me to play one more season in France, but when the proposal from GOG arrived, I didn’t have much doubt about my choice” explains the colossus on the site of his new club.
On the side of Nîmes, and as announced by David Tebib yesterday, the time has not come to look for a replacement for him. “Henrik had the opportunity to reunite with his former club. This decision was taken between gentlemen, I would like to emphasize his professionalism, his human quality and his sense of appreciation for things. Without the European Cup, with three players in this position, the rotation is already provided”explained the president of Nimois yesterday, during the press conference presenting the new coach Ljubomir Vranjes.
