The hatchback gathered five teams of students in the new building on Alejas Street, led by LMMDV teachers, to monitor and help realize the ideas of the youth.
During Hakatona, professionals in the field shared their knowledge: fashion artist Una Pūpola, screenwriter and director Marta Elīna Martinsone, cinematographer Gints Bērziņš and photographer Iveta Gabaliņa.
Hackathon’s task was for each team to create a video clip of the Carnival Youth song “I’m Rich” within 24 hours. Accordingly, the teams were given 44 seconds and a part of the song to be visualized was drawn.
Carnival Youth Group: Hey, hey, greetings to the hackathonians from Carnival Youth jackets. It is a great pleasure that the music of Imants Kalniņš arranged by us and the words of Māris Čaklā inspire creative experiments. An extensive work has been done, from which the right energy radiates, daring to vary the magical abilities of the image. We wish you not to lose this creativity draivu and crush the life gas pedal to the floor! ”
Young people appreciated the opportunity to try their hand at creating an audiovisual project and the knowledge provided by professionals in the field, but find it difficult to produce a quality video in 24 hours.
“It must be said that this is the first time I have participated in this type of event. Given that I manage the self-government on a daily basis, where we develop our ideas, the challenge was to bring this idea to the end product. This project definitely made us look at things from a different perspective and turn on critical thinking – how to achieve the best possible results with limited resources. During the project, I also tried the profession of an actor, which definitely inspired me, ”shares Thomas Samsons, a 4th year student at the Department of Popular and Jazz Music.
The mentors, in turn, were impressed by the young people’s skills, the high quality of their work and their enthusiasm for working all night.
