The court on Tuesday also upheld “Latvian Russian Union“(LKS), instructing the Central Election Commission (CEC) to ensure the transfer of votes in the 97th polling station and 144th polling station in the city of Riga, adding the ballot envelopes declared invalid in these polling stations.

The court also considered the third party’s application on Tuesday. It rejected the application of the political party “Alternative” for holding repeated emergency elections to the Riga City Council.

It was reported that on Monday the court partially satisfied the application of the “New Harmony” party, obliging the CEC to ensure the transfer of votes in the 74th polling station, 97th polling station and 144th polling station in the city of Riga, adding the envelopes declared invalid in these polling stations.

“Delfi” has previously reported that the party “New Harmony”, which did not enter the Riga City Council, as well as three other political forces, CVK, challenged the results of the Riga City Council’s extraordinary elections.

The CEC rejected the applications of the representatives of all four candidates – “New Agreements”, the party “Harmony”, LKS and the party “Alternative” – regarding the election results.

The party’s CVK’s decision was appealed in court.

In its submission, the “New Accord” requested to annul both the decision of the Riga City Election Commission on the approval of the election results and the results of the 97th and 144th polling stations of the City of Riga.

During the counting of votes in these polling stations, a total of 627 ballot envelopes without the stamp of the polling station were found in the ballot boxes, which are considered invalid in accordance with the election law and CVK instructions and are not included in the total election result. In addition, eight people were not given the opportunity to vote at home because representatives of the election commission did not come to them, according to the LETA archive.

At the “New Arrangement” application hearing, the court also attached to the party’s application a claim for the 34 envelopes found in polling station 74, which had been stamped with the stamps of the previous ballot on election day. Consequently, the total number of contested envelopes is 661.

419 unstamped ballot envelopes have been opened at the Pushkin Lyceum in the Riga polling station, which cannot be included in the election results. In Riga Classical Gymnasium, there were 208 such envelopes. It was decided to declare the unstamped ballot envelopes and the ballot papers contained therein invalid.

In total, 847 envelopes were declared invalid in the Riga City Council extraordinary elections.
