The lawsuit also stated that Lizzo’s white producers “often accused black dancers of being lazy, unprofessional, and of challenging behaviour.” The plaintiffs had “the impression that these comments were tinged with racial hostility and hatred towards fat people”. Lizzo, who is known for her defense of overweight people, responded, saying: “I know the feeling of a person’s shame in his daily life about his body, and I will not criticize or fire an employee because of his weight.”

The former dancers also alleged in the complaint that they had a long-standing dispute with the singer over their fees. “These sensationalist stories are from former female employees who have publicly admitted that they were warned during a tour about their inappropriate and unprofessional behavior,” Lizzo responded.
