Lizakowska and Kazimierska in the semi-finals of the 1500 meters race

The morning session on the sixth day of the Olympic competition was opened well for Polish athletes by the women competing in the 1500 meters. Weronika Lizakowska impressed in the second qualifying round. After a smart run, the Polish athlete reached the finish line as the fifth competitor and won direct promotion to the semi-finals. On the Stade de France track, she set a personal record of 4:01.54. A moment later, Klaudia Kazimierska showed her strength. The athlete from Włocławek, who trains in the United States, was fourth in her series with a time of 4:03.49. The third of our representatives, Aleksandra Płocińska, was also not afraid to take a risk. She fought ambitiously for three laps, but clearly lost power on the last one and finished with a time of 4:10.12. The runner from the Piaseczno club will fight for promotion to the semi-finals in tomorrow’s repechages.

Albert Komański finished his participation in the Games in the repechage, having achieved a time of 20.90 in the 200-meter sprint on Tuesday.

Justyna Święty-Ersetic had another strong 400-meter race in Paris. The Pole achieved the fourth best result of her career, 50.89, and took second place in the first repechage series. She could count on advancing to the semifinals with time, but in the next race her rivals were slightly faster.

The Polish hurdlers finished their games in the repechage. On Tuesday morning, Krzysztof Kiljan came sixth in the first repechage race in the 110-meter hurdles, with a time of 13.73, and was slightly disappointed that he did not manage to set the best time of the season. In the following races, Damian Czykier came fifth (13.71) and Jakub Szymański fourth (13.63).

In the qualifying long jump competition, Nikola Horowska had one measured attempt, in which she achieved 6.31. She exceeded the other two attempts, including one by a minimum of seven millimeters. Unfortunately, Tomasz Saska’s protégé did not advance to the final.

Marcin Krukowski almost made it to the finals of the javelin throw. The Pole twice sent the 800-gram device over 81 meters. The Warsaw native achieved 81.37 and 82.34 and ultimately took fourteenth place in the high-level eliminations. His result is the second best in history that does not qualify for the “twelve”. Two other of our competitors also did not advance to the finals – Cyprian Mrzygłód threw 78.50, and Dawid Wegner 76.89.

In Tuesday’s evening edition of the track and field competition at the Stade de France, we will have two finals. A few minutes after 9 p.m., we will see Alicja Konieczek on the track, who will run in the final of the 3,000-meter steeplechase competition. In the first round, the athlete, who trains daily in the United States, set a Polish record. Earlier, at 7:57 p.m., the hammer throw competition will begin. At the start, we will see the world record holder and three-time Olympic gold medalist Anita Włodarczyk.
