AL DHAFRA, July 12, 2020, WAM/ Al Dhafra Region Municipality announced that it has completed preparing the infrastructure at the site of the Liwa Dates Festival 2023, which is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, and is organized by the Management Committee. Cultural and heritage festivals and programs in Abu Dhabi and the Emirates Heritage Club, from 17 to 30 July.
The operations of preparing the infrastructure at the site included the provision of cosmetic crops, maintaining the cleanliness of the festival site through awareness campaigns and inspections in cooperation with strategic partners, and removing all waste during and after the festival to preserve the general appearance of the city of Liwa.
The municipality participates in a platform at the festival site to receive visitors and introduce the services it provides, within the framework of its keenness to achieve the satisfaction and happiness of the community. The Municipal Presence team has prepared a program full of various activities and events throughout the festival period, during which valuable prizes and gifts are distributed to the public and to the participants in the competitions. To contribute to the preservation of the ancient Emirati heritage and the continuity of traditions inherited in the Al Dhafra region, and to revive our beautiful past and our ancient culture with its noble values, customs and traditions, inherited by our children from our forefathers.
The festival is considered one of the most important annual festivals, most notably in the Al Dhafra region, and celebrates palm trees because of their distinguished position in Emirati heritage and culture, as well as interest in developing agricultural wealth in general.
The program of events and activities includes defining the tasks and services of the municipal presence centers, with the aim of spreading awareness about the city’s appearance laws, building permits, environmental, health and safety requirements, a forum for partners to present agricultural sustainability projects, and hosting the people of Liwa who have innovations and agricultural projects, along with the Expert Council “Liwa Lol”. And the photography competition “Liwa in Memory” and introducing visitors to the “Vrigna” application.
The municipality’s platform at the festival will host citizens of Liwa who have achieved success stories in agricultural and other businesses to present the innovative practices they applied, with the aim of introducing the creativity of the people of the Al Dhafra region, as well as organizing sessions with senior citizens from the people of Liwa to present stories and tales of the beautiful past and life in Liwa. The time of the ancestors and the founders, with the aim of strengthening the role of senior citizens and activating communication between generations.
