Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcántara returns to the Liverpool infirmary after being injured on Sunday against Arsenal, in his first appearance for the Reds since last April, according to British media reported on Thursday.

The 32-year-old suffered a muscle injury after entering the field of play in the 85th minute of the match in London (Liverpool lost 3-1). The former Bayern Munich midfielder has played 98 games since his arrival in the summer of 2020 at Liverpool, where his contract ends in June.

The Times revealed that the Spaniard was injured again. So far, Liverpool has not released the news on its official channels, however, it is expected that they will soon release a statement and offer details about the midfielder’s relapse.

The Reds, leaders of the Premier League after 23 rounds, will also be without Hungarian Dominik Szoboszlai, injured, for the match against Burnley on Saturday (3:00 p.m. GMT) but they could recover Japanese Wataru Endo, back from the Asian Cup.

The Egyptian attacker Mohamed Salah, who returned injured from the African Cup, will not be available, but he participated in physical exercises in the room with his teammates on Thursday, according to images released by the club.
