Liverpool’s Late Awakening: Can They Qualify for Champions League?

Liverpool achieved a comfortable victory over Leicester City, 3-0, on Monday evening, to maintain its hopes of achieving fourth place in the English Premier League, and achieving the “miracle”, by qualifying for the Champions League next season.

Liverpool achieved its seventh successive victory in the league, bringing it close to an opportunity to “hijack” the fourth place, which may be achieved in the following scenario:

• Liverpool’s victory in its two remaining matches.
• Stumbled at Manchester United in 2 matches out of 3 remaining. Stumbling means a draw or defeat, both of which would put Liverpool in fourth place.

Or the other scenario, represented by snatching the Newcastle seat:

• Liverpool’s victory in its two remaining matches.
• Losing Newcastle in one match, drawing in another match, or losing in two matches, out of 3 remaining.

3- Newcastle (66 points from 35 matches)

4- Manchester United (66 points from 35 games)

5- Liverpool (64 points from 36 matches)

6- Brighton (58 points from 34 games)
