Diogo Jota take Liverpool over Watford at Anfield. His goal completed Joe Gomez’s pass to prove his premonition before the game.
Liverpool won 2-0 at home to Watford at Anfield, Saturday (2/4/2022) night WIB in continued Premier League. Diogo Jota opened the scoring for the Reds in the 22nd minute, then Fabinho’s penalty confirmed their win.
Three points are so important for Liverpool to push Manchester City. This victory had brought them to the top of the standings, but Man City managed to reclaim the top spot again thanks to a victory over Burnley.
Since before the match, Jota admitted that he had a good feeling. He believes Joe Gomez, who plays in place of Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back, will provide assists and that is evident with his goals.
“I spoke to Joey before the game and said ‘You’re going to make an assist today’. I remember against Nottingham, he had a number of crosses that I couldn’t accept,” he told Liverpool’s official website.
“But I was confident today and fortunately for both of us, it happened,” he said.
For Jota, his goal against Watford was the 20th in all competitions for Liverpool this season in 40 games. That figure is a record for the 25-year-old striker in one season, with his previous best scoring 18 goals for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 2017/2018 Championship division.
“This is the first time in my career that I can reach 20 goals. So yes I want it to continue because we still have a lot of games to play,” he said.
“I remember before the game thinking about what I liked most about the 12.30 (local time) game, which was that at three o’clock we would get the three points and be able to enjoy the rest of the long day,” said the Portuguese.
