LIVERPOOL – Liverpool lost 0-1 to Inter Milan in the second leg of the last 16 Champions League 2021-2022 on Wednesday (9/3/2022) early morning WIB. Despite the defeat, the Reds – Liverpool’s nickname – remained the team that qualified for the quarter-finals because on aggregate, Jurgen Klopp’s team still won 2-1.
Fortunately Liverpool already bagged a 2-0 win in the first leg while playing at home to Inter. So the 0-1 defeat at Anfield did not destroy Liverpool’s hopes of advancing to the next round.
Liverpool’s defeat was caused by Lautaro Martinez’s goal in the 61st minute. There was a red card incident that was given to Alexis Sanchez, but the player’s superiority still could not make the Reds win the second leg.
The course of the match
First round
Both teams tried to show their best ability from the start of the match. Liverpool managed to show their dominance to dominate the game, but Inter also did not want to lose by continuing to provide resistance.
But now Liverpool’s defense must work extra in this league. Denzel Dumfries et al were able to launch quite dangerous attacks, but Alisson often made good saves.
Until the first 15 minutes, Inter continued to apply pressure to win this match. But Liverpool’s defense managed to hold it in so no goals could be created by either team.

In the 61st minute, Inter finally managed to break the deadlock after Lautaro Martinez took advantage of Alexis Sanchez’s cross. Despite winning 1-0, the Nerazzurri are still trailing Liverpool by 1-2 on aggregate.
But two minutes later, Inter had to fight more extra after having to play with ten players. Alexis Sanchez should get a second yellow card after committing a violation against Thiago Alcantara.
Despite losing in the number of players, Inter did not want to lose their momentum to appear aggressive in the remaining time. But Liverpool also continue to try to attack the Inter defense.
