LIVERPOOL, England (AP) —Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah could be back for Saturday’s Premier League game against Brentford after recovering from a hamstring injury, coach Jürgen said Klopp.
The Egypt international has been out for a month since picking up an injury during the African Cup of Nations.
“Mo is back in full training and that of course automatically puts him in contention,†Klopp said on Friday.
Salah’s return is a relief for Liverpool after injuries to Trent Alexander-Arnold, Thiago Alcantara and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Klopp rejected that the decline with these players is due to them returning too quickly from previous injuries.
Alexander-Arnold will miss the League Cup final against Chelsea due to a recurring knee problem which he aggravated in the weekend’s win over Burnley.
Thiago was out for nine months with a hip injury and suffered a muscle problem 10 minutes after he came on this month in the game against Arsenal that marked his return.
Szoboszlai missed most of January with a hamstring problem and will be out again after suffering an injury in the same place.
Klopp insisted that “they never force anyone to come back and they never will.”
“But we work in a high performance area and having the same injury you can be ready in three days or for other players it can be four weeks,†he assured.
“We have to bring the kids back as soon as possible, but never before they are ready from our point of view.â€
