Liverpool scored a goal at home Leeds United. The Reds won big 6-1 in the Premier League continued action.
Leeds vs Liverpool presented at Elland Road, Tuesday (18/4/2023) in the morning WIB. Liverpool opened the scoring in the 35th minute through Cody Gakpo.
The visitors took a 2-0 lead in the first half after Mohamed Salah got his name on the scoreboard in the 39th minute. After the break, Leeds had reduced the gap from Luis Sinisterra in the 47th minute.
But after that, Liverpool went berserk by pouring out four goals. Diogo Jota scored twice (52 and 73 minutes). Salah scored his second goal in this match in the 64th minute. Liverpool’s goal feast was then closed by Darwin Nunez in the 90th minute.
Liverpool won big 6-1. This result brings now packing 47 points in 8th position. Meanwhile, Leeds are in 16th place with 29 points.
Course of the Match
Both teams appeared open at the start of the match. The hosts had a chance in the 7th minute. Jack Harrison’s free kick ball can be met with a header by Rodrigo Moreno. Rodrigo’s header was still too weak for Alisson to save.
Rodrigo tried to threaten again moments later. However, his long-range shot went wide.
Liverpool are still often in a hurry in building attacks. This makes it difficult for them to create dangerous opportunities.
It was Leeds who presented another opportunity in the 22nd minute. Luis Sinisterra stabs from the left. His shot was from inside the penalty box but only hit the net next to the Reds’ goal.
The Reds could steal a goal in the 35th minute. Trent Alexander-Arnold can recover the ball to launch a fast attack. He combined with Mohamed Salah. Alexander-Arnold’s pass from the right could be scored by Cody Gakpo.
Liverpool only need three minutes later to score a second goal. Diogo Jota dribbled the ball towards the Leeds defense. He then played the ball to Salah who fired a powerful shot at the near post to beat Ilan Meslier.
The visitors closed the first half with a 2-0 lead.
The second half had only been running for two minutes, Ibrahima Konate’s mistake had to be paid for by Liverpool. The ball from his possession was captured by Luis Sinisterra. Sinisterra then fired a shot which resulted in a goal.
Liverpool scored the third goal in this match in the 52nd minute. Curtis Jones, who started Liverpool’s attack, gave a measured pass to Diogo Jota. Jota, who stood on the left side, could precede Meslier in grabbing the ball to score.
Liverpool’s quick counterattack again became Leeds’ nightmare in the 64th minute. Andrew Robertson’s bait reached Gakpo in front of goal.
Gakpo was not selfish by giving the ball to Salah. Salah’s shot then nestled into the right corner of the Leeds goal.
Liverpool’s goal feast continued in the 73rd minute. Jota fired a measured shot from the front of the penalty box which resulted in a goal grabbing Jordan Hendeson’s pass.
Darwin Nunez then closed Liverpool’s goal feast in the final minutes of the match. He was able to score after escaping from the offside trap receiving Alexander-Arnold’s pass.
