Liverpool Officially Sign Calvin Ramsay

Liverpool

Liverpool continue to be active in the summer transfer market. After announcing the arrival of Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho, now it’s the turn of the young Scottish, Calvin Ramsay who officially joined the Reds.

Ramsay, 18 years old, plays in Aberdeen last season and won the award for the best young player in the Scottish League by journalists. The Guardian reports he was brought to Anfield for £4 million plus a potential £2.5 million bonus.

Playing as a right-back, he is likely to only be a coating for Trent Alexander-Arnold next season. But that did not dampen his ambition to show his ability with Liverpool.

Especially the manager Juergen Klopp known not to hesitate to give the opportunity to appear to young players. Just look at names like Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Caoimhin Kelleher, including Alexander-Arnold himself.

“Playing for Aberdeen alone has been a dream come true, and now being at one of the biggest clubs in the world is certainly a great achievement. I can’t wait to show my skills to the fans,” said Ramsay.

“Liverpool are not just a big team, they give young players the opportunity to be in the first team. So if I can participate in pre-season, show my skills, of course there is no reason not to enter the first team,” he explained.

Ramsay will be number 22 at Liverpool and signed for five seasons, the BBC reports. Aberdeen manager Jim Goodwin wishes Ramsay a great year in the Premier League.

“Liverpool are very lucky to be able to get such a promising young player. His statistics in the first half of last season put him among the great full-backs in the world. We have high hopes for him and I have no doubt he will get stronger in a team like Liverpool,” said Goodwin.
