Unai Emery praise the impressive performance Liverpool at the moment. He judges The Reds which is now different from the team he defeated in the final Europa League 2016.

Liverpool face Villarreal in the first leg of the semifinals Liga Champions 2021/2022. The duel is scheduled to take place at Anfield, Thursday (28/4/2022) early morning WIB.

This is Liverpool and Villarreal’s third meeting in Europe. The two teams previously met in the two legs of the 2016 Europa League semifinals.

Villarreal then won 1-0 at El Madrigal, before falling 0-3 in the second leg at Anfield. Liverpool advanced to the Europa League final and lost 1-3 to Sevilla who came out as champion.

Sevilla are coached by Unai Emery when they won the 2016 Europa League. The same coach is now in charge of Villarreal and reunited with Liverpool.

Even though he has beaten Liverpool in the Europa League, Emery doesn’t want to use that as a benchmark. The tactician assesses the foster children Juergen Klopp is now much more developed than it was six years ago.

“Liverpool now have an updated and improved version. They are finding certain advantages in some players,” said Emery ahead of Liverpool vs Villarrealquoted from Sports world.

“They are a team that runs into space really well, uses high intensity to get the ball and now have players of a combination level. That accumulated with the presence of Thiago, then Mane who played deeper and Luis Diaz who gave them possession at a level combination,” he added.

“We were in the best moment for Liverpool, I remember when in 2016 we played the Europa League final with Sevilla, and now in 2022. This is a team that grew out of the patience and leadership of its coach. Liverpool just like the coach, full of smiles, joy and energy.” Unai Emery disclose.
