Liverpool managed to beat Everton with a score of 2-0 in the match Premier League at Anfield, Saturday (21/10). Mohamed Salah scored Liverpool’s two winning goals.
Liverpool completely dominated the match since the match started. The Reds attempted a lot of shots in the first half but not many of them really posed a threat to Everton’s goal.
One of the advantages that Liverpool got in the first half was Ashley Young’s red card in the 37th minute. Ashley Young carelessly brought down Luis Diaz who was trying to stab into the penalty box.
Even though looking at the picture on the field, there were still many Everton players in the penalty box who were ready to stem the threat.
A goalless draw in the first half, Liverpool, who had the advantage in terms of players, continued to try to beat Everton’s defense. However, after 15 minutes of running in the second half, the score had not changed.
Jurgen Klopp then started to move. Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliot were introduced to increase the pressure.
Everton itself tried hard to keep the goal from conceding. They placed 7-8 players around the penalty box when Liverpool came to attack.
Liverpool protested when Luis Diaz was brought down by Nathan Patterson but it didn’t result in a penalty. Liverpool finally got a penalty after Luis Diaz’s kick hit Michael Keane’s hand in the 75th minute.
After seeing the replay via VAR, the referee decided the moment was a violation and resulted in a penalty.
Mohamed Salah stepped forward as executor and succeeded in carrying out his duties well. Salah fired a hard shot to the left of the goal and Pickford couldn’t predict the shot.
Leading by one goal, Liverpool continued to try to press and look for a second goal to secure victory. One of the best moments was when Harvey Elliot fired a hard shot in injury time.
This hard kick was blocked by Pickford so Liverpool failed to double their lead. Diogo Jota also threatened Everton’s goal but his shot only hit the outside of the goal.
Liverpool finally succeeded in doubling their lead in the final seconds of the match. In a counterattack scheme, Darwin Nunez’s collaboration with Salah ended with Mohamed Salah’s accurate shot. The 2-0 score for Liverpool lasted until the match was over.
