Liverpool criticized after flight in 33 minutes

Liverpool beat Newcastle away – then they flew home.

A trip that took 33 minutes.

Now the club is criticized for its choice.

After several difficult months, Liverpool’s season looks to be turning around. The team won over Newcastle away (2–0), and more positive winds have started to blow around the club.

But it is not completely frictionless.

After the match, Liverpool chose to fly home. The trip took 33 minutes, as the crow flies 23 miles between the cities. The journey by bus had taken around three hours.

Now the club has been criticized, among other things in its own supporter ranks, for its choice. It is not considered justifiable from a climate perspective to fly such a short distance.

Liverpool’s response to criticism

It should be said that Liverpool was named “Premier League’s greenest club” in 2022 through its climate work with various forms of organizations in the local area.

So why did Jürgen Klopp and his players choose to jump on the plane? Was it pure laziness?

Not if the British Mirror is to be believed. The reason must be the short time until Tuesday’s Champions League match at home at Anfield against Real Madrid. From the time the players stepped off the pitch in Newcastle until the CL round of 16 kicks off, it’s roughly 72 hours.
