Liverpool condemns supporters’ rallies – rapporteur threatens curfew

Large crowds have gathered since Thursday to celebrate Liverpool’s league gold. The club calls the behavior reprehensible.

On Thursday night, Liverpool supporters were able to unleash the club’s first league gold in 30 years. As a result, thousands gathered outside Anfield, and the next day people gathered at Pier Head locally in the city.

The gatherings of the people meant that the rules on social distance were not kept, and on Saturday morning the club went hard against those who violate the rules.

– Our city is still in a health crisis, and this behavior is unacceptable. There is still a danger of a new infection peak, and we must work together so that we do not destroy everything we have achieved during the shutdown, the club wrote in common statement with the police and local authorities.

Mayor Joe Anderson has asked celebratory supporters to go home to prevent the spread of the corona virus. After Friday’s gathering, there were large amounts of junk at Pier Head, and one video shows that a rocket hit the venerable building Royal Liver.

“Maybe a curfew could be enforced as police forces have already been reinforced in the city to deal with anti-social behavior,” Anderson said Liverpool Echo on Friday.
