Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – English club Liverpool announced on Wednesday that they had reached an agreement with their Dutch counterpart PSV Eindhoven, following which player Cody Gakbo will move to the squad, effective January 2023 .
And the “Reds” released a statement through their social media accounts, revealing through it the contract with the player, and the statement read: “Liverpool Football Club have reached an agreement to transfer Cody Gakbo from PSV Eindhoven, subject to obtaining a work permit.”
“The 23-year-old forward will officially become a player of the squad at the start of the January transfer window, after accepting personal conditions and successfully completing his medical at the AXA training centre,” the statement added.
For his part, Gakbo told the English club’s official website following the announcement of his joining the squad, saying: “I feel really good, I’m really excited to be here, I can’t wait to start training and start play for this great club.”
He added: “For me, I try to show what I can do and try to help the team reach their best moments, which they have already done in past years.”
Interestingly, Cody Gakbo scored 55 goals in 159 games for PSV and provided 50 assists.
The mills player has contributed to 21 goals in Dutch league competition this season, having scored 9 goals and 12 more in just 14 games.
Gakpo participated with the Dutch national team in 14 international matches, during which he scored 6 goals, including 3 at the 2022 World Cup.
