UEFA Sorry for the unpleasant incident that happened to fans Liverpool and Real Madrid from final Liga Champions. UEFA promised to investigate.
The final which was held at the Stade de France, Sunday (29/5/2022) at dawn WIB, left a sad story for Liverpool fans. His team had lost 0-1 and failed to win, they were also treated arbitrarily.
Many Liverpool fans have been accused of having fake tickets by UEFA and the French government. As a result, they were prevented from entering and causing chaos with the police.
The match was affected, so the kickoff had to be postponed 35 minutes from the original schedule. The videos circulating have indeed cornered Liverpool fans as the source of the riots.
The French government even openly condemned Liverpudlian’s shameful act, which drew the anger of the English club and government. They claimed that the match committee was not ready.
However, a similar complaint came from Real Madrid, which the French government said had acted more politely and did not cause a fuss. According to Madrid, UEFA and the committee were incompetent in holding the match.
After Madrid issued the statement, Thursday (2/7) evening local time, UEFA immediately issued an apology as well as a promise to thoroughly investigate this matter, in order to clear the names of supporters.
“UEFA would like to apologize to all spectators who experienced or witnessed the frightening and stressful event prior to the Champions League final at the Stade de France 28 May 2022 in Paris, which should be a celebration of European football,” UEFA said in a statement.
“No football fan should ever feel that way, and this must not happen again.”
“Shortly after, UEFA formed an Independent Committee to investigate the incident and hold the organizers responsible for the final. From the results of the investigation, UEFA will take this incident as a lesson to prevent it from happening again in the future.”
“The Independent Committee will look closely at the true picture.”
