Liverpool and Everton summit.. An initiative of solidarity with the victims of the great earthquake

Liverpool and Everton will take advantage of the Merseyside derby match, Monday, to collect donations for those affected by the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

Both clubs will donate shirts signed by their players for auction in support of the earthquake victims.

And Liverpool said in a joint statement on its website that the two clubs “will donate shirts signed by the players of the match that they will collect next Monday, to be sold at auction.”

The club explained that the donation comes in response to the relief appeal launched by the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC) in Britain in support of those affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

“Everyone in the two clubs was deeply saddened by the devastation and heavy loss of life as a result of these earthquakes,” the statement read.

“After Monday night’s game, first-team players from both sides will sign their shirts and auction them off with the help of the Liverpool Foundation,” he said.

The statement called for supporting the donation campaign through the dedicated website.

On Thursday, the Disaster Emergency Committee in Britain launched a relief appeal to help those affected by the earthquakes that hit southern Turkey and northern Syria.

At dawn on Monday, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, followed hours later by another with a magnitude of 7.6 and hundreds of violent aftershocks, which left huge losses of lives and property in both countries.
