Liverpool achieved its third win in a row at the start of the 2023/2024 season. The Reds just froze Aston Villa 3-0.
In the match which was held at Anfield, Sunday (3/9/2023) evening WIB, two Liverpool goals were scored by Dominik Szoboszlai and Matt Cash killed himself in the first half. Another goal was scored by Mohamed Salah in the second half.
These three additional points have temporarily moved Liverpool to third place in the Premier League standings with 10 points from four matches. Aston Villa are in 11th position with six points.

Liverpool immediately led 1-0 when the game had only been running for two minutes. Korner Trent Alexander-Arnold met Dominik Szoboszlai who was free in front of the penalty box.
With his left foot, Szoboszlai sent the ball into the left corner of the goal and Emiliano Martinez just stared at it.

The goal made Liverpool more comfortable in possession of the ball and confined the Villa defense. The combination of Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez troubled Villa.
Liverpool doubled the lead in the 22nd minute from a quick attack that built down the right. Trent gave the ball to Salah who ran towards the penalty box.
The Egyptian sent in a cut ball which Nunez hit and the ball actually hit the post. Unfortunately, the rebound hit Matty Cash so that it went into his own net.

Joel Matip had a chance to increase the score to 3-0 in the 27th minute when Trent’s free kick was met by a header, although it was still wide.
In the 33rd minute, Villa threatened Liverpool for the first time through Moussa Diaby who snatched the ball from Joe Gomez who slipped. Diaby played the ball to John McGinn who came off the left and shot it over the net.
Villa’s attack almost endangered Alisson Becker’s goal again from the left side. Lucas Digne released a pull bait which was met by Ollie Watkins’s flick, although it was still sideways.
A minute later Nunez escaped the offside trap while chasing Trent’s pass. From a tight angle, Nunez tried to send the ball into the net but hit the bar.
Entered in the second round, Villa tried to kick off first. Their result left Alisson struggling when he had to turn away Cash’s header in the 48th minute from close range.
A minute later it was Nunez’s turn to waste a golden opportunity in front of an empty goal. His header continued Salah’s crossing towards the left side of the goal.
Wrong! The Egyptian winger made Liverpool’s advantage increase to 3-0 in the 55th minute. Korner Robertson headed Nunez to the far post which Salah immediately scored.

Trent got the chance to score when dribbling from the middle of the field and approaching the Villa penalty box. He released a kick from the outside that still flew over the bar.
In the 74th minute, Salah received a cross on the right and greeted with a volley that Martinez was able to push over. From there was born a corner which ended in a Harvey Elliott shot that hit the defender and went wide.
In the remaining 15 minutes of action, Liverpool relaxed the pressure and played more of the ball in the midfield. No more goals were created so Liverpool still won 3-0 at the end of the match.
