LIVE | “Vaccination desire is decreasing, especially among young people” | Inland

While two corona vaccines work well according to research results, research agency I&O sees the willingness of the Dutch to get vaccinated against the corona virus decreasing. Of the 1,140 people who took part in a poll commissioned by the NOS, only 60 percent answered in the affirmative when asked whether they would like to be vaccinated if a vaccine becomes available.

Half of the respondents who were happy with vaccination said that they were ‘definitely’ vaccinated. The other half says it “probably will.”

Decrease

I&O submitted the same questions to a representative group of Dutch people in June and September. In June, 73 percent intended to be vaccinated. Of the people questioned at the time, 43 percent said they were sure. In September, the percentage of respondents who would like the vaccination had already fallen to 65 percent.

How many people get vaccinated is very important to the success of the efforts to get rid of the virus. If the percentage is too low, the virus will continue to circulate. Experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) previously estimate that 60 to 70 percent of the population must become immune to corona to stop its spread.
