Live updates from SantaCon 2021 – New York and cities see event return for first time since pandemic with thousands of striking bars

SantaCon 2021 is back in New York for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.

People took to the streets on December 11, bringing swarms of Santa Claus clad parties into the city.

The event, which is a charity pub crawl encouraging patrons to come dressed in their best Christmas gear, takes place once a year and starts at 10 a.m. EST.

With Merry Santa Claus sipping holiday cocktails all over New York City, the event is known to be a bit rowdy.

In fact, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced an alcohol ban on the Metro-North and Long Island railroads, with additional law enforcement stationed at Penn Station and Grand Central Station to confiscate any drunken drinks.
