Rome Police Headquarters: “Clashes between ultras in Fiumicino averted”
At Fiumicino the police averted clashes between supporters of Lazio and Rome and fans of Eintracht in Frankfurt, who were returning to Germany after the match in Naples. The police headquarters in Rome specify that upon the arrival of the Germans at the Roman airport, the safety device prevented the various groups of ultras, with the Lazio people going to Holland and the Romanists going to Spain, from coming into contact. The supporters of the two Capitoline teams, the police explained, “wore dark-colored clothing with clothing useful for misrepresentation in the event of clashes”. At the same times it was expected the arrival at Fiumicino airport of around 150 Eintracht Frankfurt fans who were on board buses coming from Naples, the departure from the same airport was also scheduled Roma and Lazio fans to reach Spain and Holland respectively on the occasion of the Europa League and Conference League matches. For this reason, the Rome Police Headquarters had planned, together with personnel from the Fiumicino Border Police, specific surveillance services organized at the airport, where direct flights to the cities concerned were scheduled.
