Live ticker for the war in the Middle East: Direct battles between Israel and Hezbollah

Hezbollah fighters and Israeli troops continue to engage in direct combat in southern Lebanon. Israeli soldiers tried to get into the Ramja town in the border area to enter, Hezbollah said. Their fighters detonated an explosive device near the troops. “The fighting continues,” Hezbollah said.

The Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Majadin television station reported that Israeli soldiers were in Ramja hidden behind a post of the UN observation mission UNIFIL. Israel, on the other hand, accuses the militia of abusing UN soldiers’ posts as protective shields.

Israel’s army said various battles were taking place in the south of the country a reservist and an officer were seriously injured. There were also other injuries in the army ranks. The injured were brought to safety.

Israel’s ground offensive in Lebanon is so far four Israeli divisions involved. Israel keeps secret their strength and the number of troops that have invaded the neighboring country. So far they appear to have crossed or attempted to cross the demarcation line in four different sections of the border area: in the Nakura area on the Mediterranean coast, as well as in three sections further east near Ramja and in the greater Bint Jubail area, and further north near Udaissa.
