Bad weather has reduced the intensity of hostilities on the Ukrainian front but is likely to increase again in the coming weeks as temperatures drop and the ground freezes, predicts the US Institute for War Studies.
U.S. experts say Ukrainian and Russian reports from front lines in eastern and southern Ukraine, including Svatove, Bakhmut and Vuhledar, indicate operations on both sides are currently being hampered by heavy rain and mud.
However, forecasters predict that temperatures will drop and the ground will freeze in Ukraine next week, which will allow troops to move more quickly and the intensity of fighting is expected to increase again.
