The Ogre Municipal Council strongly condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine and believes that preserving the monument in Riga, Victory Park and allowing it to serve as a kind of carrier and mouthpiece of Russia’s imperial ideology, destroys the foundations of an independent state, the Republic of Latvia, thus, the Ogre Municipal Council supports the demolition of the monument in Riga in the Victory Park.
The county also points out that the exceptions for such places are places where soldiers are buried, respecting and honoring everyone’s right to honorable burial and peaceful rest. Read more here.
