Under pressure to take corona measures or not, the Swiss government decided on Friday that the ski slopes will remain open permanently during the holidays, but the number of people allowed in a closed ski lift or cabin at the same time will be reduced by a third of the normal number. There is no maximum number of people per ski slope.

For visitors to church services or lovers of singing, there was less good news from the Bundesrat (government) on Friday. In the context of the latest corona measures in Switzerland, it is currently not allowed to sing outside of one’s own family circle. An exception is made for schools, but not for churches. Singing is not allowed indoors or outdoors. According to the government, it is clear that the restrictions that are being imposed will lead to a decrease in the number of infections and the virus must therefore be contained step by step.

The country has 8.5 million inhabitants and approximately 480 people are currently in hospitals with serious consequences from the corona virus. That has been established 345,000 times and 260,000 people have been cured or had no complaints. In the Alpine country, 5,285 deaths are attributed to the virus and almost all of these patients were very old, 3,466 deceased corona patients were at least eighty years old.
