LIVE – Strike: “We will not be able to carry all the passengers”, deplores the CEO of SNCF Voyageurs

NEW FORECASTS

SNCF has updated the forecast for this weekend, with the effects of the controllers’ strike which should strengthen on the network: on average, on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 December, two out of five TGVs will be cancelled.

In detail, three out of five TGVs will be in service on the East axis, one out of two on the North axis, three out of five on the South-East and Mediterranean axis and one out of two on the Atlantic axis. On the Ouigo side, two out of three TGVs will be provided. As regards the TGVs connecting provincial destinations to other stops in the provinces, one out of two TGVs is maintained.

Intercity traffic will also be disrupted. During the day, three out of four trains run on average on Saturdays and Sundays. No trains will also run during the night between 24 and 25 December. As for the TER, “some regions could suffer some interruptions”, observes the railway company. “Transportation plans will be detailed in each region the day before the end of the day,” she adds.

The SNCF also provides details if you wish to travel abroad. For Eurostar and Thalys, traffic is almost normal, except for Monday 26 December for Eurostar: no train will leave, because the line will be affected by a strike by the English trade union RMT. As for Lyria, expect three out of every four TGVs in service. As regards the TGV Inoui which connects France to Italy, two out of three TGVs and one out of two are planned for the France-Spain line. Traffic will instead be normal for the France-Germany TGV.
