NATO leaders at a summit in Madrid on Wednesday condemned Russia’s brutal aggression in Ukraine and promised more support for Kiev.
“Russia’s horrific atrocities have caused enormous human suffering and mass displacement, disproportionately affecting women and children,” NATO leaders said in a statement.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced at the Madrid summit that the Allies were ready to support Ukraine for a long time and would increase so-called non-lethal military assistance, including training Ukrainian soldiers to use modern Western weapons.
“Ukraine can count on us for as long as it needs to,” Stoltenberg said.
