He pointed specifically to the efforts of Russian troops to attack near Avdiyivka, Marjinka and Kupyansk.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy expressed a similar assessment in his address on Monday evening, stating that things are complicated on the front. He also thanked the soldiers holding the positions.

The statement about Zaluzhny’s conversation with Brown said that special attention was paid to the issue of supplies of anti-aircraft defenses needed by Ukraine.

Additional supplies of anti-aircraft defenses and the protection of Ukraine’s critical infrastructure were also discussed in Washington in the talks between US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak.

Jake Sullivan, the national security adviser to the US president, in turn, urged Congress to approve aid to Ukraine in the new fiscal year as soon as possible.

Without that approval, the U.S. administration’s ability to provide aid to Ukraine “is shrinking by the week,” Sullivan said.

Kyiv: Russia will not be ready for negotiations for a long time

Russia will not be ready to start negotiations with Ukraine and the West for a long time, Kirillo Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Agency of Ukraine, said in a comment to Ukrainian web media NV.

The war will continue for a long time because the Russians will not sign any agreements with Ukraine and chaotic shootings will continue, but without intense combat operations, the official predicted.

There are known examples in history when the warring parties did not sign peace agreements even after the end of hostilities. This is why Russia and Japan are prevented from doing so by their differences over the Kuril Islands.

“This territorial problem is more than 70 years old. Therefore, this scenario is possible here as well, because Russia has a territorial appetite for Ukraine, which affects not only Crimea,” said Budanov.

“Of course, no one is going to satisfy this appetite,” he emphasized.

Germany has handed over tanks, drones, special vehicles, surveillance radars and other military equipment to Ukraine, according to information released by the German government.

Previously, Germany already delivered 20 Leopard 1 A5 tanks, 46 Bandvagn 206 and ten Wisent 1 tanks to Ukraine.

Germany, the second largest arms supplier to Ukraine, also sent four HX81 military trucks and four semi-trailers, 16 Zetros trucks and several other military vehicles. Similar to tanks, Germany has previously supplied such equipment to Ukraine.

Ukraine also received more than 1,000 units of 155 millimeter ammunition; 1.5 million rounds of firearms; ten reconnaissance drones VECTOR; 14 GO12 radars and 10,000 goggles from Bundeswehr and industrial stocks.

More extensive training of Ukrainian soldiers should be carried out, Minister of Defense Andris Spruds (P) announced on Twitter, who attended the concluded meeting of defense ministers of the Council of Foreign Affairs of the European Union in Brussels on Tuesday.

The most important issues on the agenda of the meeting were the provision of support to Ukraine and the development of the military industry.

The European Union provides substantial military support to Ukraine. At the same time, clear political commitment, arms supplies and financing are crucial in the long term. At the same time, more extensive training of Ukrainian soldiers should be carried out. Europe must not delay the development of the military industry, moreover, the ammunition production capacity must be urgently increased.

Together with the Secretary General of NATO, we discussed how to improve effective cooperation between NATO and the EU and the protection of critical infrastructure.

It has already been reported that on March 27, an agreement was signed on Latvia’s accession to the planned procurement of the European Defense Agency for the joint purchase of ammunition by EU member states, as well as Norway, for Ukraine, in order to provide Ukraine with urgently needed artillery ammunition.

U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken promised Ukraine on Monday that the U.S. will continue to provide it with support, including helping it survive the winter when new Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure are expected.

Biden met with Andrii Yermak, an aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a brief stopover in Washington between his Middle East crisis trip and the Asia-Pacific summit in San Francisco.

Although the US is now focusing on the Middle East, President Joe Biden has promised to keep his promise of providing tens of billions of dollars to Ukraine to fight Russian invaders, but some Republican politicians are skeptical.

“We’ve made it clear in all our conversations with the Ukrainian government that we will continue to support them,” US State Department press secretary Matthew Miller told reporters.

Blinken spoke with Yermak about “steps we can take with Ukraine to strengthen its infrastructure for the coming winter,” Miller said.

“Of course, we saw last winter how Russia tried to destroy energy facilities in Ukraine. They can try to do it again.”

Biden has tried to link a request to the US Congress for $61 billion for Ukraine with a request for $14 billion for Israel, but Republicans have advanced only aid to Israel and linked it to cuts to the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) budget.

Yermak thanked Blinken for the support of the USA on the social network platform “X”.
