The crushing defeat against France was a valuable lesson for Garuda Nusantara’s side. Coach Shin Tae Yong assessed that his team still felt inferior before kick-off against France.
“Our players are really afraid of opponents who are better and stronger than us. So things like that need to be put out of mind,” Shin Tae Yong said in the recording released by PSSI.
“The skill of the players is actually good, but because they are afraid before playing, they make mistakes, big and small,” he added.
However, a series of mini-tournament matches in Spain can be used as a benchmark for Indonesia’s ability to face higher-level teams. Next, Indonesia will face Slovakia.
