Jil Teichmann (WTA 38) qualified for the second round of the WTA 500 tournament Chicago (hard, $ 565,000). The 24-year-old Biennese defeated the Estonian Kaia Kanepi (36, WTA 66) in two sets 7-6 (7/3) 7-5. Teichmann was scared in the first set as she led 5-0 before having to win the round in the tie-break. In the next round, Wednesday, she will face Poland’s Magda Linette (29, WTA 54).
