LIVE | Secondary schools are far from returning to normal Inland

Secondary schools open only slightly until summer, despite the official reopening on June 2. Almost all schools will continue to provide online education, and for the physical lessons, they will give priority to a select group of students who need physical education the most, such as the vulnerable students and students who will take final exams next year.

Trouw reports this after consulting eight large school boards, responsible for a total of 141 secondary schools.

“For students who are doing well, a few mentor interviews until the summer may be sufficient,” says Rector Rob Fens of the Wolfert van Borselen Scholengroep in Rotterdam.

The schools struggle with the 1.5 meter rule, which, unlike the primary schools, does apply to secondary school students. In most schools, therefore, only a quarter of the students can go to school at the same time. That creates dilemmas, because a teacher cannot give the same lesson four times, Fens says in the newspaper.
