The Twente Safety Region is arguing for a further tightening of the corona measures. Arjen Gerritsen speaks on behalf of the security region of a ‘total lockdown’ now that the corona figures in Twente are rising rapidly: one in five people from Twente who now has themselves tested also has the virus. On Wednesday evening, the corona situation in Twente was further tightened to ‘very serious’. “We see an explosive increase in the number of infections in the security region,” says Arjen Gerritsen, deputy chairman of the security region. According to both the GGD Twente and the Safety Region of Twente, the figures will increase even further in the coming days due to a delay in the corona dashboard where all figures are kept.

“We would be fooling, fooling the people of Twente, if we were to say that everything will change again in two weeks,” says Gerritsen. “The experts tell us that it really won’t be any different in two weeks. In fact, that it will only get worse. ”
