Other citizens dressed in ghosts, alluding to the scandal of ghost contractors in the Senate of Puerto Rico or arrived with a saucepan in hand to sound their claims. Meanwhile, protesters carried the images of three “inmates” with the faces of Vázquez Garced, Rivera Schatz and the mayor of Ponce, María “Mayita” Meléndez.

Demonstrators began to fill the area of the Capitol square from shortly before 5 p.m. with banners alluding to their claims: “Mass outrage, Wanda Waiver”; “To an abusive government, a combative people” and “That rot in jail”, are some of the claims that are read.

The president of the United Taxi Collective, Ángelo Arroyo, was one of those who came to the Capitol to march against the political class of Puerto Rico and invited protesters to repudiate corrupt politicians wherever they see them.

“We have already said enough of mediocrity, irresponsibility and inefficiency of this government, both red, blue and green (in reference to political parties),” said Arroyo.

Protests against the government have intensified after the discovery last Saturday of a warehouse with thousands of supplies – many expired – without distributing in Ponce, one of the villages most affected by the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that shook the island on 7 January and subsequent tremors.

The discovery in the Stately City caused the dismissal of the Commissioner of Emergency Management and Disaster Management, Carlos Acevedo, and activated a series of demonstrations in front of La Fortaleza that, until Wednesday, continued for the fourth consecutive day.

Artists, organizations and citizens have expressed their outrage and rejection of the emergency management by the government during this emergency. In addition to Molina and Residente and Báez, singers Sie7e and PJ Sin Suela also participate in the march. Other personalities have expressed their support for the protests, but have not confirmed their participation.
