Small-scale poker in licensed establishments. If David Weprin has his way, this should soon be allowed. The deputy submitted a draft law for this purpose.
The New York State Assembly currently has a draft under the abbreviation AB1580 that would allow card games and dominoes in bars and pubs. The law would prohibit operators from profiting from the game, nor are employees allowed to participate.
If the law passes, no one should expect a poker boom. However, the effort is still worth noting as this is the second draft this year to feature poker.
In New York, the regulation of online poker is currently being discussed. If Assembly member Gary Pretlow can push his draft through, a big market would be opened up.
