Hospitals are increasingly under pressure due to the growing number of corona patients. In total, Dutch hospitals now treat 1943 corona patients. That is 84 more than Tuesday, reports the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS).
There are now 450 corona patients in intensive care units, an increase of 31 compared to Tuesday. Most people with Covid-19 are in a nursing ward.
Due to the busyness, 27 patients were transferred to hospitals in other regions in the past 24 hours. Many corona patients are in hospital in cities such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Leiden.
“The number of Covid patients continues to increase. This follows the continuous increase in the number of infections. IC admissions are currently increasing proportionately faster than clinical admissions. In the past seven days, the number of ICU admissions has increased by 50 percent and the number of clinical admissions by 27 percent, ”says Ernst Kuipers, chairman of the National Acute Care Network.
