Live | Lockdown threatens English city with 350,000 inhabitants | Abroad

Health Minister Matt Hancock is investigating legislation needed to regulate that, the newspaper said. Leicester, a city of about 350,000 people in the heart of England, had more than 650 additional Covid-19 cases in the past fourteen days. The minister would consider “all options”, including imposing a total lockdown.

In recent weeks, the government has been gradually reversing corona measures in the country as the number of British infections and deaths from the lung virus is falling. In the UK, more than 311,000 infections have been diagnosed so far and more than 43,500 people have died from the virus.

Corona infections worldwide: 10 million

The number of people infected with the coronavirus around the world passed 10 million on Sunday. This is shown in a count from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

The United States has the most identified infections: 2.51 million, followed by Brazil with 1.31 million. Also when it comes to corona deaths, the U.S. is at the top, with 125,539 deaths.
