The Latvian men’s volleyball national team will start the second round of the European Championship qualifying group against the Moldovan team in Cyprus on Friday. The game can be seen live on LTV7 and replay.lv.
After the first round, there are three teams at the head of the group with the same victory and loss balance – Latvia, Moldova and Spain. In the first game of both teams, the Latvians won the Moldovan team in three sets. However, the Moldovan volleyball players were the biggest surprise in the group, beating the group’s favorite Spaniards.
The national teams of Latvia, Moldova and Spain have two victories in three games, but the home Cypriots have been left empty so far. The decisive second round matches in the final tournament will end on Sunday. Latvia still has a game left against the Spanish national team on Saturday and Cyprus on Sunday.
In the first round, the Latvian national team conceded to Spain and beat the Cypriots.
In other qualifying groups, the games are scheduled for January. The final tournament is scheduled for August and September in Poland, the Czech Republic, Finland and Estonia.
Four home teams and the top eight teams from previous European Championships – Serbia, Slovenia, France, Russia, Italy, Ukraine, Germany and Belgium – have already secured a place among the top 24 teams in the final tournament. The remaining 12 places in the final tournament will be taken by the winners of seven qualification groups and the five best second place winners.
