LIVE | Ireland takes additional corona measures | Inland

Despite recommendations from the health authorities, Ireland is not completely locked in the fight against the corona virus. The Irish government rejects the proposal for a total lockdown for fear of devastating consequences for the economy. But tougher measures will apply across the country in the next three weeks, Prime Minister Martin announced. The government is asking residents to stay in their own area and to meet as few other people as possible.

Museums and other cultural institutions are closing. No one is allowed to sit in pubs with only drinks and no food. But now a maximum of fifteen customers are allowed outside, Irish media report. In the Irish capital Dublin, such pubs have closed and will remain so.
