French pharmaceutical company Sanofi will produce more than 100 million doses of the corona vaccine from competitors Pfizer and BioNTech this year. Sanofi CEO Paul Hudson said this in the French newspaper Le Figaro. In its own words, Sanofi wants to contribute to ending the corona crisis.
Sanofi is working with industry peer GlaxoSmithKline on its own vaccine. Its arrival was recently delayed and now both companies expect to be able to market the vaccine by the end of this year.
To be able to do something, Sanofi decided to approach Pfizer. The two companies reached an agreement whereby Sanofi will produce the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine. This will happen from July. It is unclear whether total production of that vaccine will be higher this year due to the deal.
