Fewer and fewer new corona infections in China

The number of new corona infections that come to light in China continues to decline. The authorities announced on Sunday that 45 people were diagnosed with the coronavirus in a 24-hour period. That was 54 the day before.

China used to be the epicenter of the global virus outbreak, but the focus of the pandemic has now shifted to Europe and the United States. The Chinese government wants to prevent people who have become infected in other countries from taking the virus back.

According to official figures, 313 people have been infected in China in the past seven days. Only six people contracted the virus in China itself. In total, 3300 patients died and 81,439 infections were diagnosed in the country.

China has since relaxed domestic travel restrictions introduced to prevent the virus from spreading. Domestic flights can be flown from most airports in the hard-hit province of Hubei from Sunday.

International air traffic is now being curtailed. Airlines have been ordered to operate fewer international flights and many foreigners no longer enter the country.

Trump: Don’t quarantine New York

US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the state of New York does not have to be quarantined to prevent the spread of the corona virus. However, travel restrictions are being considered. “Quarantine is not necessary. The full details will be released tonight by CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), ”Trump said on Twitter.

Nor is this far-reaching measure necessary for the states of New Jersey and Connecticut, the president added. Trump previously announced on Saturday that he was considering quarantine for these three states. This should apply for two weeks to prevent the virus from spreading.

New York in particular has been hit hard by the virus outbreak. Of the more than 2,000 deaths from the lung virus in the US, more than 700 are registered in this state.

Health Service CDC later announced on its website that residents of the three states should refrain from all nonessential travel for the next 14 days. The travel advice does not apply to people who work in freight transport, public health, financial services and the food supply.
