LIVE | FC Groningen takes on Fortuna Sittard

A very good afternoon. FC Groningen has traveled to the tip of the Netherlands to take on Fortuna Sittard. The FC’s last points date back to September, so with November around the corner, Dick Lukkien’s team is keen not to return home empty-handed. Can the FC in Sittard end its bad run?

The referee blows the whistle. A point in sight for a long time, but the FC continues its winless series and drops to fourteenth place in the Eredivisie.

86′ Bacuna shoots the ball into his own goal. From a corner the ball is thrown in front of the Groningen goal. Prins stops the bet on the line, but as Bacuna closes in, the captain shoots the ball into his own goal. 1-0.

80′ The end of the second half arrives. The FC shows itself more in front of Fortuna Sittard’s goal. Willumsson reaches the penalty area, but is pushed to the ground by the defense. The referee sees no penalty.

78′ A second substitution for FC Groningen. Jorg Schreuders leaves the field for Rui Mendes.

72′ Fortuna breaks out. Alessio Da Cruz storms towards Vaessen, who manages to stop his first bet. The attacker, surrounded by Marco Rente and Marvin Peersman, can get his foot against the ball again. The roller ball ends up next to the goal.

66′ FC Groningen is going to change. Romano Postema leaves the field for Brynjólfur Willumsson

59′ Hove reaches Postema who is waiting in front of the home team’s goal. The striker just can’t get his head against the ball. However, the FC is starting to put a little more pressure on the opponent.

52′ In quick succession there are shooting opportunities for Prins and Romano Postema. Both work the ball over Fortuna’s goal.

46′ Football is being played again in Sittard.

It is rest. Both teams have not yet managed to open the scoring.

34′ Leandro Bacuna gets a yellow card. If the ball crosses the back line, the captain kicks it out of the stadium. Bacuna will therefore miss the match against NEC.
