LIVE | Extra pressure at GGD due to phone calls to teachers and care personnel | Inland

The GGD received 30 percent more phone calls on Saturday after the announcement by Minister Hugo de Jonge of Public Health that teachers and health care personnel are given priority when testing for corona. That says GGD director Sjaak de Gouw. “A lot of people said they work in education and asked if they could be tested today.”

De Jonge already announced on Friday evening that the priority cannot take effect immediately. De Gouw also says that extra capacity is still being worked on. “We are now working with the sector organizations to see how we are going to organize it all. The first people will have priority testing at the end of next week. That will mean that others will have to wait a little longer. ”

According to De Gouw, calling directly at 8 am is also not necessary. “We have 1,400 employees in our call center. If 30,000 people call immediately in the morning, at least 28,000 will be on hold. And experience shows that people who call later in the day can usually be tested on the same day as the people who call in the morning. ”
